Who Can You Help Today?

An incredibly powerful question to ask yourself as you pursue this journey toward becoming a kinder person is, “Who can I help today?” You may be surprised to discover the wide array of opportunities that present themselves to you simply by considering this one question. By seeking out one person to serve each day, you’re looking outside of yourself with purpose and intention. You can almost always find at least one person to extend kindness to when you take proactive steps in this way. Let’s look at some ways you can begin helping someone within your network each day.

Use Your Skills

Find some way to share what you know. This is a great step toward providing assistance. We all have our own unique gifts. Keep an eye out for ways to use yours in extending kindness to others. You’re sure to find one person who can benefit from your unique knowledge.

Discover a Need

Sometimes we want to help someone so much that we forget to ask them if they need the kind of assistance we’re offering. Simply asking someone what they most need can ensure you provide what matters most. Remember, asking, “How can I help you,” is an effective way to pinpoint what a person truly would like from you. It also lets them know you care and are actually interested in them as an individual.

Connect People

Perhaps you aren’t actually able to provide what someone needs. It’s okay. We can’t be everything to all people. You may have identified someone who could use some assistance, but maybe it’s someone else who’s best equipped to lend a hand. If you know of an individual or an organization who provides what this person needs, you can make the connection to hook them up. Linking people together and expanding networks is a wonderful way to help someone.

Provide Recognition

Sometimes one of the best steps you can take toward helping someone is to let them know you see and appreciate them. Heap praise on a worthy recipient whenever possible. This act can be quite meaningful. It can raise spirits, forge bonds, and increase motivation. Plus, you’ll feel good for helping to lift someone up. Everyone enjoys being praised for a job well done or for their unique skills.

These are a few motivators for finding ways to help someone each day. There are tons of possibilities when it comes to reaching out and growing your network through kindness. You just have to look for them.
